In spring, Cytisus × praecox 'Allgold', also known as Scotch broom or Warminster broom, is covered with canary-yellow flowers topped with a pale yellow flag on a shrub maturing at 6 feet in height and width. Classified in the pea family, this species has flowers with a heavy fragrance that not everyone finds pleasant. WebFast-growing, adaptable, care-free, it is drought, dry and poor soils, salt tolerant. Cytisus x praecox is a hybrid variety made from crossing Cytisus purgans and C. multiflorus. Grows up to 3-5 ft. tall (90-150 cm) and 4-6 ft. wide (120-180 cm). Easily grown in any, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerates drought, dry soils, poor soils and salt.
